August Notices

Howdy Ranelights.

August marks the closing stretch of the Ranelagh season…

… but there’s still plenty happening across the club.

The much-loved Ratchford Relay will take place on a Tuesday evening (date TBC). Open to all women and juniors, teams of three take on six 1K loops near Petersham Gate.

Members are also reminded to attend the CIO Zoom call on 3 August and SGM on 1 September. Both are important opportunities to stay informed and take part in the next stage of the discussion.

Finally, please save the date for Sunday Coffee Club on 31 August: come along before or after your run for a relaxed end-of-summer catch-up at the clubhouse.

We’re also in the process of finalising the 2026/2027 fixtures list and will share updates as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.

A Message from our president

Dear Members,

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the discussion around Ranelagh’s proposed transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, or CIO.

The AGM showed how much everyone cares about the future of our club, and gave us the chance to talk about the proposal, the reasons behind it and the questions some still have.

Following the AGM discussion, we will hold a Zoom Q&A on Monday 3 August at 7pm. This will be a further opportunity to ask questions of the Executive Committee and CIO working group. The Zoom link will be circulated closer to the time via WhatsApp.

We will then hold a Special General Meeting at the clubhouse on Tuesday 1 September at 7pm, where members will be asked to vote on whether to progress our application to the Charity Commission as the next step in the proposed transition.

If members vote to continue, a further SGM will be arranged at a later date to vote separately on the closure of the CASC and the transfer of assets to the new CIO.

We are also preparing a dedicated webpage bringing together the relevant materials, including updated FAQs based on member questions and feedback. This is taking a little time because we want to make sure the information is clear, factual and accurate. We expect to share it very soon.

We would really encourage as many members as possible to join the Zoom call, attend the SGM and continue to take part in the discussion. Your questions and views matter, and we want everyone to feel informed and confident in having their say.

Thank you, as always, for being part of Ranelagh and for helping us move the club forward together.

Maia
