Ranelagh 10K · 2026
The Ranelagh 10K has a habit of bringing the heat, and 2026 was no exception.
It made for a tough running conditions, but it felt like a proper club morning, shaped by hard running, generous support and the simple joy of bringing people together to race.
In the end, a total of 469 runners crossed the finish line. Among them were 68 Ranelagh runners, including 20 women, giving the race a strong blue and amber presence from the sharp end right through the field.
And despite the temperatures, the performances were outstanding.
At the front of the women’s race, Tracy Barlow of Thames Valley Harriers produced one of the runs of the day, breaking the women’s course record in a superb 35:10. In those conditions, it was an exceptional performance and a brilliant moment to witness.
Congratulations also to Samuel Stevens of City of Norwich AC, who took 1st place in 32:16.
Ranelagh’s women delivered a fantastic team performance. Led home by Suzy Whatmough, who finished ninth woman overall and third in the W35 category, the women packed strongly throughout the field. With Lucy Charkin, Aoife Kilpatrick and Kate Browning completing the scoring four, Ranelagh secured third place in the women’s team competition.
The men matched that with an outstanding club performance of their own. Peter Cook finished third overall, leading Ranelagh to first place in the Open team competition. Alongside Peter Robins, Joe Killip and George Roux, the scoring four secured the men’s team win for Ranelagh.
Behind them came a huge show of depth, with club members packing the field in numbers and delivering strong performances from the sharp end of the race right through to the later finishers.
Across the wider race, 96 runners broke 40 minutes, including nine women. On a hot, hard morning, that says everything about the standard of racing on show.
But the Ranelagh 10K is never just about the racing.
It is also about the volunteers who help make the event a success. Without them, there is no race.
The race may last only a morning, but so much has to come together before the first runner reaches the start line. From course set-up and marshal points to water, goody bags, signage, results, photos and pack-down, every part of the day relies on people giving their time and helping where they can.
It is often the small things that runners remember: a clear direction, a word of encouragement, a calm hand when something needs sorting, or a familiar face at just the right moment. Together, those moments give the Ranelagh 10K its friendly, community feel.
