July Notices

Howdy Ranelights.

This is a shorter-than-usual edition…

… highlighting three key things coming up this month.

With a busy few weeks at Comms HQ, we’ll follow up with a fuller newsletter later in July, including recent performances, race reports and social roundups.

First up is the inaugural Ranelagh Sunset Sprint 3K on Friday 3 July, and we’d love as many members as possible to be involved, whether racing, volunteering, supporting or helping create a brilliant event atmosphere.

Our bnext priority is the AGM on Tuesday 7 July - please see below for an important message from our President. Please do make every effort to attend, hear the latest updates, have your say and support the work to keep Ranelagh moving forward.

Finally, the Henty Relay returns on Tuesday 21 July, one of our most enjoyable club fixtures and another great chance to run, support and get involved.

As ever, thank you for being part of everything that makes Ranelagh so special.

A Message from our president

Dear Members,

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the discussion around the proposed transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation over the past few weeks.

The proposal is about helping Ranelagh operate more securely and effectively in the years ahead. As the club continues to grow and take on more responsibility, moving to a CIO would allow Ranelagh to enter into contracts in its own name and provide greater protection for the volunteer officers and members who give their time to run the club on behalf of us all.

That volunteer spirit sits at the heart of Ranelagh. This process is part of making sure both the club and the people who support it are properly protected and well placed for current members and future generations.

It is clear that everyone cares deeply about the future of our club and while this is an important proposal for Ranelagh, it is also clear that there are still questions about what the change would mean in practice.

With that in mind, we want to reassure members that the vote on the CIO resolutions will not take place at the AGM on Tuesday 7 July.

Instead, the CIO proposal will be introduced and discussed at the AGM. We will recap why the club is proposing this change, with an opportunity to hear other perspectives, ask questions and continue the conversation over refreshments.

The formal vote on the five CIO resolutions will be deferred to a Special General Meeting on Tuesday 1 September at 8.15pm, after training. This gives everyone a further eight weeks to read the documents, consider the proposal properly, raise any concerns and understand the detail before any decision is made.

We hope this additional time will help everyone feel better informed and more confident about the process. Please do read the documents already shared, come along to the AGM, join the discussion, and continue to raise questions in a spirit of openness, mutual care and collegiate respect.

Thank you, as always, for being part of Ranelagh and for helping us move the club forward together.

Maia

Sunset Sprint

The inaugural Ranelagh Sunset Sprint 3K takes place tomorrow, Friday 3 July, and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic evening for the club.

We already have 64 Ranelagh runners signed up and 40 volunteers ready to help. As a brand-new event, this is a big moment for Ranelagh, and we’d love as many members as possible to come down to Ham Avenues to race, cheer, help or simply enjoy the atmosphere with friends and family.

Entries close at 6pm tonight, so if you’d like to run, please sign up NOW @ https://in.njuko.com/ranelagh-sunset-sprint-3k1771253465904

Food and drink will be available from 6pm, with waves running from 6.15pm to 9pm, plus music, commentary and plenty of chances to support your clubmates. Whether you’re not racing or not, please come along, bring others with you and help create the atmosphere this new event deserves.

And if you can muck in at any point, even briefly, please find Maia or Narissa on the night.

Henty relay

The Henty Relay returns on Tuesday 21 July at 7pm, bringing one of Ranelagh’s most enjoyable club fixtures back to Sidmouth Woods.

Teams of three will be created by the handicapper, with runners of different speeds brought together to make the race as fun and competitive as possible. Entry is free and the event is open to runners of all ages and abilities, including friends, family and guests.

Everyone who wants to run must sign up in advance, with no entries on the night. Please enter now so teams can be organised.

Training

Access to the clubhouse may be difficult next week, especially for the AGM on Tuesday 7 July.

Overnight resurfacing works will take place on Petersham Road from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 July, between Meadow Close and Sandy Lane. The road will be fully closed each night from 8pm to 5am, with signed diversions in place.

The road will be open as usual outside these hours, and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout. However, vehicular access will be restricted during the works, so please allow extra time and plan your route carefully.

Where possible, we encourage members to cycle, walk or even run to the clubhouse. Please also avoid parking in any coned areas, as temporary restrictions will be in place.

For Tuesdays’ sessions, please meet at our clubhouse for 7pm. Find the latest training schedules here >

For Thursdays’ track, please meet at Osterley track for 7.30pm. Find the latest training schedules here >
