April Notices
Howdy Ranelights.
April is here - and it’s a busy one…
First up is the Baker Cup Handicap on 18 April, free for all members but please sign up by 15 April. Details & entry @ https://ranelagh-harriers.co.uk/news/baker-2026
Meanwhile, the Surrey Road League continues with more opportunities to race, score points and represent the club as the season builds; including our own races - the Ranelagh Half and Ranelagh 10K - coming up fast. Followed by the Sunset Sprint 3k not long after.
We need everyone’s help to make these events a success, so if you haven’t signed up to volunteer yet, now’s the time @ https://forms.gle/DodAoSXJtZFngnm89
April is also marathon month so a huge shout out to everyone heading towards the start line, wherever that is. The miles are in - now it’s about enjoying it and seeing it through. We’ll be right behind you.
And when it’s all done, please join us for the Medal Sunday Club Social celebration at the Fox & Duck on 26 April from 7pm. Bring your medals from any half or marathon this spring, and raise a glass with our London Marathon finishers. This is in lieu of our usual Sunday Coffee Club, which will start again at the end of May.
Finally, April marks the start of the new financial year, which means club subscriptions (& England Athletics renewals) are due. Details on fees and payment options can be found @ https://ranelagh-harriers.co.uk/join-info

Volunteer appeal
We need your help to make our events happen.
The Ranelagh Half, Ranelagh 10K (and soon the Sunset Sprint) are some of the highlights of our running calendar - and they only happen because of you. If you’ve already volunteered - thank you. It makes a huge difference.
If you haven’t yet, now’s the moment to step up.
From marshalling on the course to helping at registration or creating that finish-line buzz, every role matters. It’s what turns a well-run race into a great one; full of energy, support and that unmistakable Ranelagh atmosphere.
No experience needed - just a bit of your time and a willingness to get involved. We also have roles for those who are running. If you’re new to volunteering, this is the perfect time to start.
Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, you’ll be part of something special.

Saturday 28 March | Kew 10K
Ranelagh delivered a strong all-round team performance, with impressive results at the front and great depth throughout the field.
Leading the way was Matt Hirschler, finishing 12th overall (34:39) and 3rd V35, closely followed by Gareth Hopkins in 13th (1st V40) and Ted Mockett in 14th (3rd V45) — a superb front pack putting Ranelagh firmly in the mix.
There was excellent support behind, with Nicholas Twomey (26th), Samuel Davies (31st), Andy Starr (33rd, 2nd V50) and Graham Weller (36th, 3rd V50) all finishing strongly, alongside solid runs from Edward Forbes and Shaun Griffith.
Further down the field, strong efforts came from Neil Rae, Alexander Waldmann and Robert Wise (5th V65), while Margie Harrison, Candice Goddard, Wendy Fisher, Katrina Roche and Penny Merrett ensured great representation across the women’s field.
Shout out too to Martin Nance, who flew the club flag for the half marathon, finishing in 2:13:25 (13th V65).

Our Next 10 Years
Tuesday 21st April | Clubhouse | From 8pm
Following approval at the 2025 AGM, work has been underway to explore a new committee structure and the potential move to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). The Constitution Committee has been carefully reviewing the options to make sure we get this right for the club.
Ahead of our meeting on 21 April, we’re sharing pre-reading materials outlining our vision for Ranelagh, the proposed transition to CIO status, and a new Constitution, along with FAQs to support understanding.
The evening itself will offer an opportunity to hear more, ask questions and be part of the conversation = including a look ahead to plans for the clubhouse.
We encourage all members to join us on the night. Refreshments will be provided, with training to start at 6.30pm, to allow ample time for the meeting to start at 8pm.

Training
Woo hoo - the days are getting longer and although we’re starting our sessions in light, it’s dark when we end. So please continue wearing appropriate clothing - hi-vis/reflective, warm clothing — not just during training, but also when travelling to and from the clubhouse or track.
Plus don’t forget your lights or head/chest torches. Staying visible is key to staying safe.
For Tuesdays’ sessions, please meet at our clubhouse for 7pm. Find the latest training schedules here >
For Thursdays’ track, please meet at Osterley track for 7.30pm. Find the latest training schedules here >
