Sunday 12 April | Thames Towpath 10 Mile
A strong Ranelagh contingent lined up for the Thames Towpath 10, with the fast, flat course delivering plenty of impressive performances across the field.
At the sharp end, Ted Mockett led the way with an outstanding run to take 3rd overall in 58:25, dipping under the hour and setting the tone for the team.
There was further strength up front with Olaf Wasternack finishing 10th overall and 3rd V40 (1:01:44), closely followed by Andy Starr, who claimed 1st V50 in 1:02:00 in a superb performance. Michael Morris backed that up with 2nd V50 (1:03:37), underlining Ranelagh’s depth in the veteran ranks.
Ed Perry also ran strongly to finish 19th (1:04:14), while on the women’s side, Aoife Kilpatrick delivered a standout run to take 3rd female in 1:06:40. She was well supported by Natalie Haarer, who placed 2nd U35 (1:09:13), and Edel McKeever, 2nd V45 (1:11:14).
There were more excellent category performances throughout the field, including Martin Halvey (3rd V60) and Wiebke Kortum (2nd V55), alongside solid runs from Neil Rae, Nigel Hawken, and others who helped maintain a strong Ranelagh presence from front to back.
Further down the field, Stephen Logue, Frances Wilding, Marilyn Nelson, and John Herriott all completed the course, each contributing to another impressive club turnout.
With podium finishes, category wins and strength across the squad, it was a successful day out on the towpath. Well done to everyone who raced.
Saturday 18 April | Baker Cup
Carefully crafted handicaps met their match as the racing unfolded, with bold starts, fading legs and a few perfectly timed charges through the field. Baker Cup magic on a new course (and a new course record!) plus kudos to the winner, Chris Hunton who timed it all to perfection.

Sunday 19 April | Sutton 10K
Race 2 of the Surrey Road League took us to Sutton for a fast and competitive 10K, with Ranelagh turning out a strong squad.
At the sharp end, Callum Olden led the charge with an excellent 4th place overall in 33:51, closely followed by Peter Robins in 5th (33:53), giving Ranelagh a brilliant one-two presence near the front of the race.
There was further strength in depth behind, with Gareth Hopkins finishing 9th overall and 2nd V35 in 34:18, while Philip Collins continued his consistent form with 13th overall and 2nd V45 in 34:56. Marc Leyshon wasn’t far behind in 15th (35:00), and David Ready rounded out a strong scoring group in 18th (35:47).
The depth of the squad was on full display, with solid runs across the field. Ed Perry (36:49), Sam Davies (37:25) and Michael Morris (37:26, 4th V55) all contributed valuable performances, while Andy Starr (37:52) and Dafydd Nelson (38:50) kept the momentum going. Ignatius Li (40:16) and Will Cavendish (50:23) completed the line-up, each playing their part in the team effort.
With strong finishes across multiple age categories and a clear presence at the front of the race, it was another positive outing for Ranelagh as the Surrey Road League season continues to build.
Well done to everyone who raced and supported. On to the next one.
