South Downs Way Relay

We need YOUR HELP…

… to reclaim Ranelagh’s title at the 2026 South Downs Way 100 Mile Relay on 6 June 2026.

The SDW 100 Mile Relay is one of the best running days out in our calendar. Our club has a rich tradition of participating in the event, especially in the early 2000s.

Recently, we’ve made a bit of a comeback and over the last 4 years placed 5th, 3rd and finally 1st in 2024.

In 2025, to recognise our recent successes, the organisers invited us to enter a second team but due to adverse weather, that event was postponed to a date we were unable to make.

So this year we’re raring to get out there and with two teams to the party, there’s a chance for twice as many of us to experience this awesome event.

What’s the SDW Relay?

▪️ 100 miles relay race for teams of 6 runners.
▪️ Covering the length of the South Downs from Beachy Head to Winchester, in ONE DAY.
▪️ Teams compete over 18 legs (3 legs per runner) of between 4-9 miles per leg.

It’s basically a brilliant day out running with your friends through stunning scenery. Think Green Belt, but with all the fun and action packed into a single day!

Who we’re looking for

▪️ Competitive runners who’d like to be part of our 2 teams
▪️ Men, women, seniors, vets – ALL ARE WELCOME.
▪️ Supporters by way of drivers

In 2024, we won the mixed team competition and we’d like to defend that title. 

The category of the other team depends wholly on who signs up to run, and how competitive we can be in each category. Once we know who’s interested, we can choose the right categories and begin to select the initial teams.

Please don’t think you’re not fast enough or won’t make the team. Inevitably there will be drop outs so we’ll need reserves and drivers too!
