Ladies Couch to 5k Course
aimed at complete beginners…
…our ladies-only Couch-to-5k running course is perfect for those wishing to learn how to confidently run 5 km at their own pace.
Our 2025 course starts on 20 May, with group sessions every Tuesday evening for 8 weeks until 8 July.
Run by experienced coaches, all sessions will take place in Richmond Park from 7pm.
What can I expect?
Expect to meet other like-minded ladies of all ages and abilities, who have a common interest in learning how to run!
We want this to be fun and sociable for everyone, with no pressure to achieve times or to run faster than you’re able to.
The course will consist of a group training session on Tuesdays, with additional self-guided sessions through the week.
By the end of the 8 weeks, you will be able to confidently run 5 km (3.1 miles) at your own pace.
And hopefully have made some great friends on the way.
What kit will I need?
You don’t need to invest in any fancy or expensive equipment. All you’ll need is a pair of decent trainers and a sports bra.
However, do wear something you will be comfortable running in such as leggings, shorts or tracksuit trousers, and a t-shirt or vest top.
And definitely be prepared to get hot and sweaty!
I've never run before - is this for me?
Absolutely! Our course is tailored exclusively for complete beginners. You do not need to have had any prior running experience.
All you need is the commitment to attend the group training sessions on Tuesday and to do your additional self-guided sessions through the week.
Our experienced coaches will be on hand to support you throughout the course.
Where do we meet?
We’ll meet at 7pm, every Tuesday from 30 May to 18 July, at the Ranelagh Harriers clubhouse, located at 133 Petersham Road, Richmond TW10 7AA.
Our clubhouse offers full changing facilities and you will be able to leave your bags, jackets and other belongings there.
We also have a safe where you can lock away any valuables and cycle racks to lock up your bike.
Please note: There is absolutely no parking at the clubhouse or the Dysart Arms. If you must drive, kindly note that parking is limited around the local streets, so we encourage you to cycle, walk or take public transport (65 and 371 bus routes).
What else do I need to know?
There’s a nominal charge of £10 per person for the entire course.
