For you – any pace, any distance, any terrain

Volunteers required to marshal – please help if you can!

Howdy Ranelights,

We all love our running events don’t we? Whether it’s for a new PB, or for the bling & goody bag, or simply just for the sheer experience & fun, there’s nothing like the atmosphere of a running event.

Now we’re sure you’ll agree that the success of any event, big or small, hinges primarily on the support of the volunteers who help out and marshal. We’ve all benefited from the dedication of event marshals & coordinators: from that much needed shout-out as you’re wondering why the heck you entered this darn race; to the comfort of running a course that’s been checked out to ensure it’s safe; to the assurance that all you need to do is RUN your heart out, and everything else will be taken care of.

So, what better way to show your deepest appreciation than to consider volunteering for any (or all?) of these upcoming fixtures & events? Volunteering is bags of fun, plus you get to meet other people, learn new skills and be part of a great event. So please get in touch if you can help out – we really need you!

💙 Saturday 2 April 2022 : Ranelagh Inter-club Match in Richmond Park
This is happening imminently and we need as many course marshals as possible from 2.30pm to 4pm. Duties are very light – simply stand, smile, wave and cheer! All marshals invited back to the clubhouse for free tea & cake. If you’re free at all this Saturday, please email Andy Bickerstaff ASAP: andy.bickerstaff@goodrunguide.co.uk

💛 Sunday 8 May 2022 : Ranelagh Half Marathon
We need AS MANY VOLUNTEERS AS POSSIBLE for a variety of marshalling & course duties from 8am onwards. No experience necessary, just your support and commitment. The course passes through Richmond, Twickenham, down to Hampton Court Bridge and back up along the Thames towpath to Ham, so there’s a variety of locations to help out. This is one of Ranelagh’s key events, forming part of the club’s Summer Road Grand Prix, the club’s Half Marathon Road Championships, as well as part of the Surrey Road League & the Surrey Half-Marathon Championships. It’s HUGE so we need lots of help. Whatever time you can give will be immensely helpful, so please email Trevor Maguire: ranelaghhalfhelpers@hotmail.co.uk

💙 Sunday 26 June 2022 for the Ranelagh Richmond 10k
This is another popular road event taking place in and around Ham. Again, we need AS MANY VOLUNTEERS AS POSSIBLE for a variety of marshalling & course duties from 8am onwards. No experience necessary, just your support and commitment. It’s a fab day out and a wonderful atmosphere all round, so please email Ed Perry: ranelagh10k@gmail.com

💛 And last but not least, a special request from Simon Martin (he-who-was-our-handicapper). Simon needs volunteers to help out on the morning of Sunday 10 April at Kew The Run Half Marathon. Volunteers are needed to either:

🔵 hand out flyers to finishers advertising the Ranelagh Half Marathon & the Ranelagh 10k (so you’ll be helping our club immensely);
🟡 or do other marshal duties connected to the event

In return for volunteering to help out on Sunday 10 April, you will get a free race place at the RUNFEST Kew 10k (Saturday 9 April) OR the RUNFEST 10k (Saturday 10 September). With the race place, you will also get a goody bag + technical t-shirt, plus you, another adult & 2 kids will get free entry into Kew Gardens for the day of whichever 10k you run.

I mean, how good a deal is THAT?

So if you’re able to volunteer on Sunday 10 April, please email Simon Martin ASAP: RanelaghHalfMarathon@hotmail.co.uk

Come everyone, let’s get a-volunteering! What are you waiting for?! Get in touch NOW! 🥰
