What and who are the Thursday night sessions for?
We organise a free-for-members, weekly track training program on a Thursday evening. Two sessions are available each week: a speed session aimed primarily at younger members and an endurance session which is structured so as to be suitable for a range of abilities from experienced, competitive runners through to those members with a reasonable fitness level wanting to improve through interval training. The speed session is supervised by a qualified UKA coach and the endurance group is led by one or more qualified coaches or LiRF. Both sessions have a similar format, comprising warm-up/drills, a set of intervals, and then warm down. The focus in the speed session is on developing technique and speed while the endurance session is designed for runners looking to improve speed endurance for distances from 5km upwards.
Where and when?
The sessions take place at the outstanding Osterley Park track facility. They last for one hour and normally start at 19:30, though during current Covid 19 restrictions we start at 19:00.
How do I know which group to join?
Before coming to a Thursday night track session we recommend that you attend at least one Tuesday night group session in order to be sure which of our groups is best for you. Once you are comfortable with the Tuesday group you are in, you can then join the same group at the track. Alternatively, you can speak with one of the coaches on the night who can advise you on the most appropriate group.
