Ranelagh Harriers Mob Match vs Blackheath Harriers : 11 March @ 3pm

NO REST FOR THE WICKED – HERE’S THE NEXT JOB FOR THE MOB!

Calling all Ranelagh Harriers – after a nail-bitingly close loss to Orion Harriers, all hands on deck for our next mob match against ‘The Heathens’; Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC.

First run in January 1907, we are, whichever way you cut it, trailing waaaay behind in the standings against the mighty Blackheath. Last year’s (away) mob match saw 11 stalwart Ranelaghs make the journey to Hayes to be trounced once again.

This year we have the advantage of home ground, and we require the efforts of every able-bodied Ranelagh Harrier to repel The Heathens.

So once again, another call to arms to all Ranelagh Harriers to come for a ‘good run in the country side‘, to support our club and for the chance to chant (shout, holler – take your pick) the Club Cry:

Hobble Gobble
Razzle Dazzle
Zis Boom Bah
Ranelagh Ranelagh
Rah Rah Rah.

The last word lies with our dear David Wright, who stated waaaay back in the Ranelagh e-News 1 November 2000:

I’m just a boring old fart who has had nothing better to do on winter Saturday afternoons for the last 25 years than run mob matches. As the club fixture list used to state “all members are expected to compete in mob matches”. I always thought that this was a condition of membership and was too frightened to challenge it!

It’s now 2023 and he’s still running mob matches for Ranelagh, so that makes 48 years and counting… SO COME ON RANELAGH, LET’S GET OUT THERE!

📢 ENTRY:
🔷 Registration & numbers is at 2pm by the start/finish by Sidmouth Woods (opposite Pembroke Lodge). NOTE: We will NOT be doing numbers at the clubhouse.
🔶 PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to allow plenty of time for registration & numbers. Pins will be available.

We’ve all benefited from the dedication of event marshals & coordinators, so please consider giving back a teeny bit by volunteering.

Please get in touch if you can help out – we really need you!
