Just wanted to send a message from our friends at Clapham Chasers regarding their upcoming event, The Thames Riverside 20 on Sunday 13 March:
…. We’ve always been a small, local event, but I believe that the fallout from coronavirus has really affected our entries numbers this year, and as such, we’re operating nowhere near capacity and it very much looks like the club will make a financial loss this year. However – there is no situation in which we’d cancel the event, as we know we have a loyal following and people enjoy coming to our race.
There is one thing you could do – if you have any friends, relatives, colleagues or neighbours that you think may be interested, please, please pass on the event details to them. I’m prepared to offer free entry to next years race to anyone who manages to convince 3 other runners to enter our event. All I’ll need you to do is e-mail me, letting me know who you’ve signed up, and I can sort you an entry for next year.
If not, we look forward to seeing you regardless on what I’m sure will be another great day!
Joe Spraggins – TR20 Race Director
Joe’s message really resonates with us – we understand the time, effort and dedication (and money!) that goes into organising any race. We’re sure we can all remember how pants it was to not have any races during the various lockdowns and now that things seem to be going back to ‘normal’, what better way to show our appreciation by supporting our fellow running clubs.
Clapham Chasers are an inclusive club and run TR20 for runners of all levels – there is a race cut-off time but it’s very generous and if you’re unable to meet this, simply email email@example.com and they’ll be more than happy to help out.
