For you – any pace, any distance, any terrain

Ranelagh Harriers Annual General Meeting 18 July 2023

We will be holding the Ranelagh Annual General Meeting at 8:30pm Tuesday 18th July 2023 at the clubhouse. Please come along if you can as a minimum of 20 members need to be present in order for it to go ahead. We will circulate the Draft Minutes of the last meeting, President’s Report, Finance Report and Officers List two weeks before the meeting.

Our AGM is also an opportunity for you to get involved in the running of the club, so please consider volunteering, as we elect various roles for the club.

Kindly send any agenda items to Trevor Maguire (Honorary Club Secretary) @ ranelagh.hon.secretary@gmail.com before 27 June (or 21 June if they involve changes to the Club Constitution).

Benefits of Ranelagh Membership:

Please note that as part of the recent changes to Ranelagh membership, subscriptions to track training at Osterley track on Thursday evenings @ 7:30pm are now included in your yearly subscription.

This is in addition to the coaching sessions we hold on a Tuesday night for the 5 training groups, as well as free cross-country races eg: our 5 handicap races, Mob Matches, Surrey League races, the Ratchford Relays, plus free entry to the Nationals, Southerns, cross-country relays etc.

We also subsidise entry to the Green Belt Relay and other niche running events. We further support various other events such as the Women’s Beginners Course run so ably by Deborah for many years.

We are a registered club with England Athletics and the benefits of membership can be found @ https://www.englandathletics.org/take-part/athlete-registration/benefits/ which includes the club gaining places at the London Marathon.

We are also affiliated to both Surrey and Middlesex County Athletic federations, as well as other organisations such as the South of Thames.

Note for Coaches:

Could all members with a coaching qualification please ensure their membership status is up to date.

Kindly log into the England Athletics portal and check the coaching status against your name i.e. make sure all of the courses you’ve attended are on the portal. In particular you may need to update your DBS and/or attend an online safeguarding course.

Similarly if you used to have a coaching qualification and you no longer wish to continue coaching, then please go onto the England Athletics site and remove your coaching designation – and also let Deborah, our Coaching Coordinator, know.

If you are unsure what to do, please contact Deborah on Tuesdays at the clubhouse, or email ranelagh.hon.secretary@gmail.com.

First Aid Course Register:

We believe it would be helpful to have a number of members with first aid qualifications. First of all we would like to hold a register of names for those who already have this qualification and also we would like to help members gain a first aid qualification.

We would like to prioritise coaches and race organisers, but will consider others, so please consider whether you would like to gain this qualification and whether you can attend the next course.

These courses are set up by Richmond CVS (a local charity linked to Richmond Council) and the next one is on Wednesday 18 October at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College (RHACC), Parkshot Richmond TW9 2RE. It is a full day course and Ranelagh will fund anyone we agree should sign up.
